Three Families Who Need Cards & Prayers

Hi Everyone,
Here are 3 Hugs & Hope families that need prayers, cards and extra support.

Sierra Journey F. started vomiting blood yesterday and is in the critical care unit. She and her Mother Shaylene could both use an extra card.

Also, Ethan S is going to have his tonsils out next week...always a bit tricky with our kid's health issues. He and/or his Mom Michelle could use an extra card.

Also: Kelly, Mom to Kaitlyn C. just learned that, after 7 surgeries last month, the problem hasn't been taken care of, Kaitlyn's continued to be in tremendous pain, and Kaitlyn will be having additional surgery in June.

Maya would LOVE to collect postcards from as many places as possible. Her Mom, will use this to fuel her love for Geography as well as help her remain aware of just how many people care about her. She's an amazing girl who spends more time IN the hospital or receiving extra treatments than outside it. Yet she actively embraces life. A true inspiration. I get daily prayers from Beliefnet. Today, I thought I would share this prayer for everyone, all over the world, especially the children who are so brave!

Prayer to Live With Grace

May we discover through pain and torment,
the strength to live with grace and humor.
May we discover through doubt and anguish,
the strength to live with dignity and holiness.
May we discover through suffering and fear,
the strength to move toward healing.
May it come to pass that we be restored to health and to vigor.
May Life grant us wellness of body, spirit, and mind.
And if this cannot be so, may we find in this transformation and passage
moments of meaning, opportunities for love
and the deep and gracious calm that comes
when we allow ourselves to move on.

The HUGS and HOPE Foundation for Sick Children is a unique group with a personal approach.
This allows us to meet specific needs of the families we serve. Our simple goal is bring a little
more joy, love, and laughter into the lives of children suffering from critical illness or injuries.
What began in 2000 as a disabled grandma's hobby has grown into a nationwide network of
over 2500 volunteers who, through prayer, encouragement and "happy mail" have touched the
lives of hundreds of children. Our group offers the rare commodity of
friendship, which significantly impacts the lives of families in crisis.
HUGS and HOPE Programs
Sending Smiles to hospitalized children by mailing cheery cards, teddy
bears, balloon bouquets, books, and other toys.
Granting Wishes for everything from swing sets, tickets to rock
concerts, and airline tickets to a new bike, a VCR, or an electric guitar.
Helping Santa by matching sick kids with volunteer "elves" who
sponsor needy children for the holidays.
Providing Parent Pals by matching up isolated parents with volunteers
who offer daily encouragement through phone calls, emails, or letters.
24 Hour Chat Group where parents may connect with others in similar
situations or with volunteers who offer encouragement.
Contribute materials or services, such as postage stamps, office
supplies, public relations writing, accounting, etc.
Participate in fundraisers.
Host a benefit.
Please support the HUGS and HOPE Club's programs and help them to

A Little About the Founder of Hugs & Hope

Marsha Jordan is a disabled grandmother, author, and shower singer who began her writing career on the bathroom walls of St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School. Now her writing appears in restrooms throughout the country. Jordan has two boys, ages 30and 55. She's been married to the 55 year old for 31 years.

She's been held captive for a quarter of a century In the north woods of Wisconsin where she shares an empty nest with her rocket scientist husband and their badly behaved toy poodle, King Louie who rules the household with an iron paw. Jordan, who has eaten enough chocolate to make the Guinness Book of Records, spends her days ignoring her dirty oven and dreaming of the things she'd like to do but probably never will -- including overcoming the trauma of class picture day in second grade. Her hobbies (besides eating and napping) include rubber stamping, collecting antiques, riding her pet pig Shirley, and studying do-it-yourself dentistry.

After her grandson was badly burned, Jordan created The HUGS and HOPE Foundation, a nonprofit charity devoted to cheering critically ill and injured children.

Jordan's inspirational and humorous essays are available in her new book, "Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter." The book is illustrated with drawings by kids who are battling for life. You can view her book (here)

Hugs & Hope /Create for a Cause Card Group

Hi,
If you live in the South Suburbs of Chicago, I would like to start a group that meets monthly to create cards for donation to worthwhile organizations. If your a paper-crafter, I'm sure like the rest of us, you have way to many supplies, put them to good use and join me in making someone's life a little bit happier. If your a beginner and want to be a part of Create for a Cause we can work something out. I have so many stamps and plenty of extra supplies to create cards with. Join me in bringing hugs, hope, and love to many in need. If you do not live in the area and want to be a part of this I will be posting different organizations like the one earlier today, that you can visit. Hi and Welcome!
I started this blog as an extension of www.createwithstamps.com
I wanted to do something with the cards I create. I started searching for organizations that are asking for card donations. I found this site Make A Child Smile, you can (click here) to visit them.
